Particularly among those who didn't purchase their passes online, there was a notable difficulty in proving their compliance, often resulting in fines due to lack of evidence.

Many drivers accrued penalties despite believing their passes were valid, or failed to realise their expiration, continuing to use motorways illegally multiple times before being notified.

Interestingly, 70% of individuals surveyed were unaware that purchasing an annual nationwide pass could exempt them from fines, and those who were aware often misunderstood the process. Unlike a straightforward automatic waiver, motorists must specifically request a credit through the National Toll Payment Services.

This development underscores the importance of informed compliance with the motorway pass system to avoid fines, particularly as prices rise and the enforcement process remains stringent.
