The breakdown of a vital medical software system, miniHIS, has resulted in significant delays at medical duty points across Hungary. From Thursday evening, doctors have been unable to use the software, essential for handling medical records. This problem has been corroborated by multiple medical professionals, although not all have experienced the disruption.
The issue became particularly pressing due to the timing of a three-day national holiday, during which time the helpdesk for resolving such IT issues was unreachable. A paediatrician expressed concerns about the impact on medical services, stating, "It's very hard to work like this. We have to write everything by hand, and the number of children waiting for treatment is piling up. It takes twice as long to provide care, and we can't update the records into the Electronic Health Service Space (EESZT)."

Attempts to contact the organisations responsible for the operation and support of the system, such as the National Ambulance Service and the Health Informatics Service and Development Centre, have so far been unsuccessful, with responses indicating only that technical staff are working on the issue.
As the situation evolves, the strain on medical staff and the extended wait times for patients highlight a pressing need for a resolution. Further updates are awaited as authorities work towards restoring full system functionality.
